Five minutes a day: cozy games that fit real life

June 11, 2026 · Mikkel Sørensen

Not every week leaves room for a sprawling RPG. Some weeks you get five minutes on a lunch break and that's it. That's exactly when cozy games earn their place on your phone.

The best ones, like Meadow Mill Days, don't punish you for stepping away. No energy meters, no crops rotting if you miss a day. You check in, do a little, and leave feeling better rather than obligated.

I've started treating these as a kind of reset button. A couple of minutes tending a virtual mill clears my head between tasks far better than scrolling a feed. The low stakes are the whole point.

If you're picking one, look for a game with no timers and a visible sense of progress. Watching your little world slowly improve is deeply satisfying, even in tiny doses.
